Island Tours
Spending time in Caye Caulker is a relaxing experience, even for the more active land lubbers who like to explore the waters around the caye in a boat. Two of our favorite tour operators will take you on characteristically laid-back trips.
Raggamuffin Tours will take you sailing around the caye while you enjoy a rum punch watching the sun set in the lagoon or the moon rise from beyond the reef. They also run trips to the atolls for those who want to experience their splendid isolation and beauty. Round island tours start at US$20.
Another much loved tour on the caye is Ras Creek's 'Go Slow Tour'. Ras' under-powered, Robinson Crusoe-esque boat “Heritage Cruz” is docked at the split and is a colorful local icon. Ras is a historically important figure in the evolution of tourism in Belize. A trailblazer who is still educating and thrilling his tourist clientele with his naturalist wisdom and his capacity to pull off a hell of a party simultaneously. His tours both instill awareness of the environment and generate good vibes galore. He has pioneered some of the best reef trips around Caye Caulker and, on top of snorkeling trips and Cayman spotting, will take you to his own mini seahorse sanctuary to see wild examples of this fascinating animal; the only known species in which it is the male who carries the pregnancy!
