Snorkelling

The snorkeling here is spectacular and the sea full of an incredible array life. Protected by the world’s second largest barrier reef which is home to over 400 species of fish, the waters around Caye Caulker are mostly calm, clear and shallow giving ideal snorkeling conditions.

Spend a few days here and as well as a dazzling array of tropical fish, you are likely to have rubbed noses with dolphins, eagle rays, nurse sharks, sea turtles, manta rays, moray eels, sea horses and a huge range of corals, sponges.

cayereef works closely with local tour operators who are expert naturalists and able to guide you to all the best spots. Our local Caye Caulker Marine Reserve is only five minutes offshore and the renowned Hol Chan Marine Reserve is just a 30 minute boat ride away.

Ras Creek's “Go-Slow Tour” is a highly recommended exploration of local sites and wildlife. Carlos Tours is a favorite for trips to Hol Chan, Shark-Ray Alley (where you will see nurse sharks and stingrays) and to the local marine reserve.

For a really laid-back experience, spend a day on a sailboat visiting the best snorkeling spots with Raggamuffin Tours who offer day tours with lunch and full kit for only $35.

For those wanting to explore further there are regular tours to world famous sites such as the Blue Hole, Half Moon Caye and Turneffe Atoll. You may want to head south for a combined snorkeling and manatee-watching tour or join local conservationist Mr ‘Chocolate’ Heredia on a special tour specifically to see these wonderful gentle creatures.

Come enjoy all this wonderful island has to offer and stay in style at our beautifully designed Caye Caulker condos on the beach.
