"The Best Place in the Best Location" - April 2014
Strongly recommended... We've stayed on Caye Caulker before and seen most of the places to stay. This would be our #1 choice. A nearly perfect place in a perfect location – the Caye Reef is very attractive consisting of 6 units plus a pool and a roof top hot tub area with views both East and West. The entrance area and pool are surrounded by a wall. We felt extremely safe because of the layout, locks, etc.
The manager Bobbi and her assistant Heidi are very helpful and friendly. We used Bobbi to make our reservations on Tropic Air to and from Caye Caulker. Bobbi communicated efficiently and clearly with us about our reservations at Caye Reef and about our reservations with Tropic Air. She offered to have us met when we arrived on Caye Caulker. At our request Bobbi also made our reservations with C&N Cart rentals.
Our unit was spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, a full kitchen and a large living room. The A/C is very strong and there are ceiling fans as well. The unit was decorated with very attractive local art. The description online and the photos are accurate. The unit was very clean. Although it was a bit worn in some places, that's to be expected and we would definitely stay here again. The Caye Reef is built very solidly and although we had units above and below us, we never heard any of the other guests.
Again, very strongly recommended. It's popular and I recommend booking it as early as possible in your planning. Perfect for 2 couples and 2 more if using the sofa in the living room is acceptable.
Excellent place in an excellent location” - December 2013
I did a lot of research to ensure we stayed in the right area on the island. I think this hotel is perfectly situated at the northern end of the island just below the split. Try and get room 5 or 6, these are the two rooms on the top floor. Room 5 is the best as they are doing some construction outside of room 5 and it does block a bit of the view on that side of the building. I can't say enough about how awesome room 5 is, the view is incredible from the balcony or walk up one flight to the roof top deck and hot tub for a complete 360 degree view of the entire island. It's worth nothing that they do not clean your room while you are checked in but we had no problem with that and were actually relieve not to worry about it.
“Wonderful home away from home!” - November 2013
We just returned from 7 days on Caye Caulker and are so glad we chose Caye Reef as our home away from home! The condo was fabulous and the location unbeatable - right on Front street with the ocean a mere few steps away! Bobbi arranged to have us met and transported to Caye Reef. She showed us around and gave us tips on everything from restaurants to grocery stores to tour operators. Also, she provided a cell phone for our use while there. She or her staff were always accommodating to our needs or inquires throughout our stay. The first thing we noticed upon entering the condo was the A/C - it was a very humid day when we arrived so it was a truly a relief to walk into. The open concept Living Room, Dining Area and fully equipped kitchen was spacious, welcoming, well lit, comfy, clean and beautifully decorated. The tap water was 100% drinkable and, to make guests even more comfortable, unlimited bottled water was provided at no additional charge and without requesting it beforehand. A nice option! The bedrooms were spacious, VERY comfortable and clean, as were the bathrooms (nice step-in showers with plenty of hot water). We were in Condo #2 - one BR had a Queen bed and the 2nd BR had two twin beds, each with their own bathroom attached. The platform bed concerned me at first, as I usually need a box spring for a good night's sleep, but the mattress was so thick and supportive that I never noticed the difference. There was a beautiful walk-in closet with lots of hangars, ample shelving and safe for valuables. The floors were a beautiful non-slip tile throughout the condo. The east-facing veranda was great, and perfect for watching the sunrise. It was right off the LR - with comfy cushioned chairs, a coffee table and our own hammock. There was even a small clothesline & clothespins in an inconspicuous spot there for our use. Great for dripping bathing suits! The rooftop area was really nice with a great all-around view! There are tables/chairs, lounge chairs, or multiple hammocks available. The hot tub is heated for evening use, as the days are too hot anyway. And the icing on the cake, the pool, was sparkling clean and refreshing ! We would go back to Caye Reef in a heartbeat!
“Great location on Caye Caulker” - October 2013
We stayed at CayeReef for 4 nights. We were met at the airport and carted (golf cart) to the property. We stayed on the 3rd floor, room 5. The manager, Bobby, was extremely friendly and accommodating. We felt like this was home away from home. Very spacious 2 bedroom condo, fully stocked kitchen, hot water and very comfortable beds. Centrally located, near the split, although we never went there. We rented bicycles which we locked up outside the condo and rode all over the island. This was our first time to Caye Caulker and we can't wait to return and we will definitely return to Room 5 at CayeReef.
“The best place on caye caulker by far!” - October 2013
After 8 weeks on the road we wanted to treat ourselves on caye caulker. We couldn't have picked better place to stay. Bobby the manager was great from the start. The suite we got was amazing and felt just like home, we really didn't want to leave. Best part also thy have a pool and a roof top jaucuzzi with the best views on caye caulker. Thanks Bobby for all your help and making it a great stay. We will definitely be coming back.
“Laid-back luxury” - August 2013
If you want to experience the laid-back vibes of Caye Caulker without giving up the luxury mod cons, this is the place. In contrast to the backpacker budget choices on the island these condos have a pool, a roof jacuzzi with a 360-degree water view and air conditioning that's almost TOO powerful. This comes at a price but we felt it was a good value for the money. Food is fairly cheap on the island, so you won't cook much, but drinks can really add to your restaurant bill. You save a lot by visiting the supermarket and enjoying your rum drinks on the condo balcony or roof. Most of the time we had the roof or pool to ourselves. Two bed/two bath arrangement perfect for our family of 3, but could sleep up to six. Bedrooms were very quiet and comfy. Showers had plenty of solar-heated hot water. We stayed for one week in Penthouse #5 and after a day of diving, we enjoyed happy hour while watching the shrimp stick man, assorted stray dogs and other reality shows unfolding on Front Street beach. Sunrises were awesome with morning coffee and cinnamon rolls bought from the bakery the day before. We had a couple of stormy days which knocked out the internet, but Bobbi and crew quickly got it back on. They are just a phone call away if you need anything and they give you a local cell phone to reach them. Every room in our condo had a view and the location on the nicer end of the island is great, not far from the split. There's a small private beach and our son took out the building's kayak. We didn't want to leave. A perfect stay!
“Amazing hotel in a perfect location!” - July 2013
First time in Belize and we arrived on the first night of Lobster Fest in Caye Caulker and stayed at CayeReef four nights (room 3). This place was absolutely perfect. Central air that worked great- always cool inside. A balcony that was perfect for people watching or looking at the water. Plenty of room with a large living room and full kitchen, and two large bedrooms each with its own bath. The rooftop patio is awesome, and affords a great view of the island, the sunrises and sunsets. The location is close to town and two blocks from the split, but never loud at night. I really can't complain about anything at this place.
“Another Belize Gem!” - June 2013
Our fourth time to Belize, but our first time staying on Caye Caulker. Caye Reef was everything we were hoping for. Spacious and clean apartments, very helpful & friendly staff, relaxing pool, and beautiful rooftop hot tub & views. It doesn't get better than this....we will definitely be back!
“Best on the Caye” - May 2013
This place lived up to the reviews in TA. It was a beautiful location on the Caye. Clean and comfortable. We were 2 couples so the 2 bedrooms were great. The sunsets from the roof were really great as was the hot tub up there. The kitchen was reasonably stocked with tools. It was nice that the WiFi worked pretty well. We were on 3rd floor and the view off the balcony was outstanding. A very relaxing place. From our walkabouts, it looks like the nicest place to stay on Caye Caulker. Thanks for a great, albeit too short, a stay.
“Best place to stay on the island.” - January 2013
We picked the CayeReef condos for our vacation because we had 2 couples, and it was the only place with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. What a great choice! It is in a great location, just a 2 minute walk to swimming at the Split. And it is just a 4 minute walk to the main area of town. You are just far enough from the hustle/bustle to have peace and quiet at night. The rooftop deck is beyond words. There are lounge chairs and hammocks that you can lay in, while you look at the sea in both directions because the island is so tiny. The apartment is clean, spacious, and fully functional with a kitchen and all necessary cookware. They even make sure you have a large bottle of fresh water to drink from (tap is safe, but tastes funny). Everyone was very friendly and be sure to pet the "watch" dog... he just watches, but don't expect him to guard.
